- Field work alert: ISGS drill rigs will be in Ford and Piatt Co. the week of Aug 18 & 25. At both sites, the ISGS plans to drill to bedrock and set wells in the Mahomet aquifer. In Piatt Co., the ISGS is drilling in Allerton Park near the Maintenance shed, opposite the Main House. In Ford Co. the ISGS is drilling along Route 45, 2 miles south of Paxton. Feel free to stop by, observe the drilling, and speak with the field crew.

- MAC recognized by the Illinois Groundwater Association-- MAC was awarded the 2008 Illinois Groundwater Education Award for its dedication to the study and management of this valuable resource while striving to educate the communities that rely on the aquifer's continued viability. At the April 8th IGA mtg, Mel Pleines accepted the award on behalf of MAC.

On Feb 16, the first mtg of the Water Resources Planning Committee for East-Central Illinois was held in Urbana. Approx. 80 people attended the mtg.
On Jan 31, MAC held a public mtg to discuss the Mahomet aquifer & the Water Resources Planning Committee for East-Central Illinois in Clinton. The mtg ran from 7 to 8PM at the Clinton HS auditorium.
